The State Buildings Story

On the corner of St Georges Terrace and Barrack Street in the heart of Perth, stands the historic State Buildings.

This collection of iconic heritage buildings has been revitalised and transformed, delivering a vibrant cultural destination in which to eat, drink, party and stay.

The precinct has become one of the city's favourite meeting places and is home to an award-winning collection of restaurants and bars, including Petition, Beer Corner, Wine Merchant, Long Chim, Wildflower, POST, Pooles Temple and more.

COMO The Treasury is a 48 ­room contemporary luxury hotel in Perth's newly revitalised historic heart. Occupying state buildings dating from the mid 19th ­century, COMO The Treasury opens up the city with new experiences by way of two restaurants, a bar and world­ renowned COMO Shambhala wellness therapies.

The recruitment process

Our recruitment process includes the following;

Screening & Shortlisting of Candidates

For every vacancy, candidates are to be measured against the job description and person specification to identify those who meet the minimum requirements.

Telephone Screening

Telephone screening will be conducted with all shortlisted applicants prior to invitation to interview.

During the telephone screening candidates will be asked;

  • Provide an overview of their current position
  • Why they have applied/interested in working with State Buildings
  • What they already know about the business

Invite to Interview

Invitations will be conducted by telephone and subsequently confirmed by email with the relevant job description attached.

Candidates will be informed of the day, time, and location of the interview, along with who will be present on the interview panel. Instructions on who to report to upon arrival and possible parking arrangements will also be confirmed.

Interviewing of Applicants

On completion of the interview the interview panel will decide on the most suitable candidate.

Regret Letters

All those who have attended an interview, however have been unsuccessful, will be notified either by telephone or in writing by the lead recruiter.


Prior to making an offer of employment, at least 2 references will be obtained for all candidates. At least 1 of these referees must be the candidates immediate past employer and that person must be in a supervisory/management position. Referees cannot be a previous work colleague. An academic references is acceptable.
